8 Month Milestones

I have loved all ages and stages in Emery's life but so far this month may have been one of my favorites. It's so fun watching her learn and grow. She is becoming more and more interactive and loving play time more each day. There have been a lot of new things that she has learned this month and one of my favorite things is to see how proud she is of herself when she learns something new and we are cheering for her!

So, here are the things Emery learned as an 8 month old:

-Saying "Dadadadada" (the noise, not saying it in reference to Dada): September 19, 2013

-Knees and Elbows Rocking: September 21, 2013

-Squinchy Face: September 22, 2013

One day I will get a front shot of the squinchy face but for now this cute one will do.

-Clapping: September 30, 2013

I love how proud of herself she is.

Still requires a little bit of concentration.

-Saying 'Mama" (mostly when crying to yelling agrily): October 6, 2013

-Pulling Herself Up onto Her Knees: October 5, 2013

-Third Tooth (Top Right): October 10, 2013

-Drinking Out of Her Sippy Cup on Her Own: October 9, 2013

 

This was when we were 'practicing.' Now she's a pro and can drink from it at any angle and her new trick is drinking it with only one finger.

She has been army crawling for a while and had no interest in real crawling so we had moved on to standing. Then she decided to try crawling.

Watching Dad as he sang "Hands and Knees! Hands and Knees!" Once again, she was so proud of herself.

-Sitting Up: August 18, 2013

 

-Scooting: Forever and then stalled while learning and loving to sit up
-First Tooth: August 29, 2013

You can't see the tooth in any of these but it was definitely poking through. It was actually kind of nice to (still) have a little toothless smile because we were honestly a little sad when we realized those days were numbered.

-Hands Up on Side of Pack n Play: September 4, 2013

-Army Crawling: September 6, 2013

-Second Tooth: September 8, 2013

-Officially Moved to the Crib (due to the happenings on 9/4): September 9, 2013

She was screaming (with joy) and moving her head back and forth. Hilarious!

 The next few pictures demonstrate Emery's new-found love of her little basketball that Dad gave her as well as her many faces that are rarely caught on camera.

..however, I think she may have been showing off for the camera just a little...What a cutie!

 

She loves playing with her mirror.

It rained one morning and cooled everything off so she laid by the back door with the door open and the screen closed while she watched the rain and felt the breeze.



She loved it!
Emery really is an outside girl and has been having a bit of a hard time being couped up all summer.

We love this little girl and her sweet, stubborn, opinionated, content, happy, and loving personality and cannot wait to watch her keep growing up...not too fast though.

 I can't even believe that Jefferson and I have been married for 3 years already! Time has just flown by, especially when I look back and think about everything that has happened since August 6, 2010...

-Lived in 4 cities, 2 states, 3 apartments, and 1 house

-Graduated from College

-Had 2 great jobs

-Bought our first house

-Had our first baby

Solid Foods

First Time Eating Solids

So I am a little bit of a by-the-book parent when it comes to Emery and eating solid foods which meant that she wasn't eating solids until her 6 month birthday. I had been doing tons of reading, researching, etc (if you'd like any baby food outlines, you know where to find me. lol) so I bought the organic baby rice cereal and away we went. We stripped her down to just her diaper (much easier than a bib), set her in her Bumbo, got the camera ready, and tried her first bite. As per Emery's usual, we got no facial reaction but her eyes seemed to say "Hm, this is interesting."

She did pretty well, although I'm not sure if she liked the food or just being able to bite the spoon. People always say that once their baby starts eating solids they sleep so much better at night. Unfortunately for us, that did not happen but that's okay. Since then, we've changed from rice cereal to oatmeal and I think she likes that better. Later this week, we'll probably start feeding her some vegetables. She's growing up so big!
