4th of July in Prescott

We spent the weekend of the 4th in Prescott. It is so beautiful there and so much cooler! It rains every afternoon and as we were driving in we hit a rainstorm and the car said 69. It was mostly high 70s/low 80s the whole weekend and we had the windows open. Prescott had it's magic again this year for Emery who slept so much better in that cool air. Aunt Gerry's house sits on top of the hill and overlooks Prescott...it is one of the most beautiful views anywhere.

We made it to Prescott in great time and decided to let Emery run around the park that Jeff and his cousins used to play at when they would come up. Noted: there are more homeless people that reside at this park than before so we will choose a different park in the future. Emery still had fun running around and being out of the car.
"Slide?!"

She loves the slide and we love that smile!

Clapping

Dad had to help a little since the little kid slide was in the sun and hot and this one was a little too high and steep for her to do on her own.

Swinging...this is the first time she's really liked it.

They had these little motorcycles to sit on.
The next morning we went down to the square to walk around and look at all the art. Jeff treated us to fry bread for lunch and Emery loved eating the bread and her 'chippy chippy chips." Emery loves her skirt so we had to wear it for the 4th of course.
Trying to sneak some of my fry bread. I love her little face!

Sitting on the step and eating lunch

She looks like such a little kid instead of a baby.

Sometimes Emery attacks the camera once she notices pictures are being taken so we flip the screen so that she can see and we just have to try to aim right. This one was a little off but I still love her face. It's what she does when you tell her to smile.

This is my favorite picture of the entire trip and might be my favorite picture ever. Jeff just captured her little self so perfectly in this one.

Trying to help me put the lens cap on.
Next up was the parade. We got there early and got great seats on the corner. It's always amazing how people get there late, stand in front of you, and then act shocked when you ask them to move. Emery loved the parade. She loved watching the horses and trucks and everything else. Next time we might go to the Kiddie Parade..we hear they throw more candy. Most of the pictures only get the side of her face because I was trying to be secretive about it so that she didn't notice.
Eating her chips and watching the parade.

Looking at the horses

She was having so much fun!

Truck!

"Oooooohhhh"

Stopping for a chip

I don't remember what she was pointing at but she was obviously loving it.

Dad was trying to fan her off

Sitting in her stroller. Sidenote: this is the most amazing umbrella stroller I have ever seen and Walmart had it for $28. I was super picky about wanting a canopy and basket and this one has the option to roll the back part up and just have the mesh behind their back so that it breathes better.
About 15 minutes before the parade ended it got cloudy and we felt a few raindrops but not too many so we packed things up just in case we needed to make a quick get away. Luckily we did because about 5 minutes later the skies opened up and it poured! We were soaked by the time we got to the car! It was kind of fun since we rarely get rain like that by us.

Prescott's 4th of July didn't disappoint and we had a great break from reality while seeing family and spending a lot of time outside.

May in Pictures

Things have started getting busy around here as Emery continues to get busier and busier. Our days are spent playing, eating, making messes, and occasionally sleeping. Here's what we were up to in May. Emery was 15-16 months old.

This is Emery's first ponytail. I had been waiting to put one in her hair because I didn't have any of the little hair ties and because I just thought it would make her look like such a big girl. It does make her look bigger but her ponytails are oh so cute! She cries when I'm putting them in but as soon as we're done she's running off to play again.
As soon as I get the camera out she runs up to me and tries to grab it. Therefore, most pictures are very up close.

Silly girl!
We had our first swim of the year this month. We headed to the Basha pool with a few friends. Emery wasn't too sure about it. They only had the zero entry section open and sometimes she liked splashing around and sometimes she just wanted me to hold her. We have been swimming a few times since and she has liked it better. She likes it when there's a big step or side of the pool that is shallow enough that she can run around in it. I only have pictures of Emery in her little coverup so I'll have to get some in her actual swimsuit.

Mother's Day. I am so lucky to have this little girl to call mine. She's such a great helper and she might be clingy but I secretly love it (most of the time). I know she won't want to cling to me forever so I'm okay with her hanging on for now.
She had just gotten out of the bath and her hair dried in little horns on top before we could brush it...cute!

Emery discovered coloring this month and loves it. It is so cute to watch her color pictures. She even made one for Dad for his birthday. Yes, we framed it. How could we not? She is still only allowed to color in her high chair because we're still working on the 'we only color on paper' concept and the tray washes off easily.

My uncle Todd came to visit. He lives in Taiwan and because I was living in Utah the last few times he's visited, we haven't seen each other in 6 years! It was great catching up with him and Emery getting to meet him. He was feeding her chips so I think they'll be friends for life.

Memorial Day. Emery loves this skirt and has become a girl who loves accessories. That day she had on her skirt, bunny ears, necklace, and 'watch' (my hairtie). I just love her personality and her goofy little quirks.

I tried getting her to smile by telling her to show me her teeth. This is what I got--even cuter than what I was going for.

Jeff's ankle was swollen and hurting one night so I got an ice pack for him to put on it. Emery had to have one too and sat by Dad while they iced their ankles.

Saying "Emmy"

About a week ago, I was telling a little girl Emery's name. All of the sudden I heard Emery's little voice say what sounded like "Emmy." I tried getting her to say it again and sure enough heard her say "Emmy" one more time. The next day I got her to do it for Dad. Here's a video of Emery saying her name...and a cute picture just because. Enjoy!

Easter 2014

This year, Emery was much more interested in Easter than her little 3 month old self was last year. She still wasn't totally sure about what she was supposed to do during her many Easter Egg Hunts but she was very excited about what was inside them.

A couple days before Easter, our friend Heather hosted an Easter Egg Hunt/party. It was fun catching up with our friends and just hanging out. The kids were all very excited to go look for their eggs. Emery still wasn't sure what to do but had fun running around looking.

She wasn't too thrilled at the beginning of the whole thing.

She kept pointing at eggs but refused to get them.

After some convincing she decided to get them.

She loves putting things in buckets and then taking them back out over and over.

Jeff and I colored our eggs when Emery was napping. We got almost all of them done before she woke up and then she ate a snack while we finished up. She wanted an egg so we gave her a plastic one. This girl likes to Hiyah (throw) things so no way was she getting a real egg.

She also eats everything...another reason not to give her a real one yet.
Jeff's parents had an Easter Egg Hunt at their house for all the grandkids. Emery had fun watching and hanging out with Ashley. These girls are already becoming little friends.

Easter morning! Emery needed a bath right after waking up so these easter bunny morning pictures are taken in a diaper. We're all about comfort around here. Emery got a new snack cup that had cereal in it which she found and started eating right away. She also got some bubbles, headbands, and candy. After opening the bubbles she wanted to go outside and play with them so we put some shoes on and out she went with dad.

I think this picture and the next one are precious!

Showing me how it was on her arm

Trying to blow bubbles. Emery loves blowing on things. If she thinks her food is hot she blows on it first. It is seriously so cute!
