Finishing Out Emery's First Year

With the holidays over, it was time to get ready for Emery's birthday. Jeff took all of the holiday decorations so that Emery didn't feel like her birthday was just lumped in with Christmas (not that she noticed this year--it was more for me. I just never want her to feel that way so might as well start now). Then, it was time to get back to normal life until birthday time and enjoy the last couple of weeks of having a 0 year old.

I'm pretty sure that she drops food when she's in her high chair just so that she can eat it later.

"Ha mom I found something!"

"Ooo"

 She loves...

Playing with Mom's phone

Eating chicken nuggets and carrots for lunch

Whistling

Reading the mail

This has nothing to do with Emery. Jeff and I made ribs for the first time. DELICIOUS!

Peas. No really, she loves peas

Dad's hat

This is two in one. Being in just a diaper and playing

We love our Emery girl so much and feel more blessed than we could ever imagine to have her in our family. We can't believe that she turns one just a couple weeks or days after these pictures. She has brought so much love, joy, and fun into our lives and we couldn't imagine her any other way.

Christmas Day (part 2)

Christmas Day afternoon/evening was spent with my family. We had fun being able to hang out, eat delicious food, and just chat. Plus my grandma was in town so it was fun to be able to have both grandmas there on Christmas.

We were all so spoiled and so blessed. We are continually thankful to be able to share these special moments with not only our little family but all of our family.

Christmas Day (part 1)

Christmas morning was much better than expected. After almost postponing our own family's Christmas due to the stomach flu, I was so glad when Jeff and I woke up feeling pretty good. It was a little Christmas miracle that Emery didn't get sick. Santa brought Emery a little lion that she can either push and walk along with or sit on and scoot.

Emery did pretty well on Christmas. She got toys, clothes, books, food, more toys, more clothes, etc. She was quite the spoiled girl. I think her favorite present was her strawberry apple puffs. As soon as she unwrapped them she wanted nothing to do with any of her other toys and ate half the tube on Christmas day. After presents we ate cinnamon rolls and took a nap.

Christmas Eve

We are so lucky to live near both of our families, especially at the holidays. This year was Emery's very first Christmas and we were all so excited! Jeff and I went out shopping for her (she was with us but Jeff had me walking behind the stroller at the store so that she couldn't see the presents). The house was decorated, complete with our Christmas tree bungee corded to the top of the end tables and no low hanging ornaments. However, Emery never even tried to touch the tree, ornaments, or presents. The Friday before Christmas, things all began to change. Two words: Stomach flu. I got it on Friday night and felt awful all day Saturday. By Sunday I was okay and Monday I was about 75%. That's when it hit Jeff. Monday was the 23rd and he had already taken it off so Emery and I headed out to finish a couple last minute things. By Christmas Eve we were doing okay so we headed off to the Clarks for the big celebration. Mexican food, cousins, talent show, and lots of fun!

These two were quite the duo all night.

They are going to be great friends!

Clapping for someone's talent

Emery hadn't opened any presents before so we were wondering how she was going to react. After looking at them for a little while she went at it and ripped the paper off. Then all bets were off and anyone's presents were fair game.

Grandma and Grandpa! I love her little Christmas jammies. So cute!
Then it was time to go home and right off to bed. We wrapped presents, put them under the tree, got things ready for the next morning and then we were off to bed as well.
